Behind the Scenes – March 2026

This March marks the twentieth year that I’m attending the NY Write to Pitch Conference. I started as a participant and it was there that I sold my first novel, The Fiction Class. After that, I was invited back to be a workshop leader, and that’s how I got to know my agent, Paula Munier, and the editors who bought my Maggie Dove series and Merry. I’ve also seen a lot of my students go on to amazing things, among them NYTimes best sellers Kim van Alkemade and Carola Lovering. I’m always excited when it starts because I can truly say I have no idea what’s going to happen! I also enjoy celebrating with new friends. 🙂
