One of the best parts of my Merry Road to Publication adventure, so far, has been choosing the narrator for the audiobook. I knew that Spotify had bought the rights, but I had no idea what to expect. Then, one day, I got an email from Spotify that included several clips of different women reading Chapter 4 of Merry. This is an important chapter because in it, Merry believes she hears her dog talking to her. So not only does the narrator have to get across Merry’s voice, she also has to get across the dog’s voice. Not an easy task!

I listened to each clip carefully. What a surreal moment. I’m used to hearing Merry inside my head, but not outside it. Each of the readers offered something different, but the voice that jumped out at me was Caroline Hewitt’s. Her voice had a warmth that I found just right.
